This sublime miniature, originally for solo piano, is one of six pieces completed by Brahms in 1893 and dedicated to Clara Schumann. He wrote 18 Intermezzi in all and this one is the most popular. In this arrangement very little has been done except to extract the main melody from the rich piano texture.
